Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Background
Emmanuel is a 13-year-old boy and the second child in his family. He dreams of becoming a pilot one day. Three days ago, he started feeling sick with a headache and fever, but he didn't go to the hospital because his family didn't have enough money. However, when he got worse at school, they brought him to the hospital.
Medical history
Three days prior to coming to the hospital, he reported of having headache and fever. He went to school but while in school his condition worsened and was brought to the facility, assessed and sent to the lab for further tests. While Emmanuel was in the ward, he was given medication to treat severe malaria and severe pneumonia as an in-patient for 3 days, He was given oral medication to proceed with at home after the discharge. He responded well to the medications.
Outcome
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
