Farida is a three-year-old girl who lives with her grandmother in a small community. She is the fourth child among five siblings and is a joyful and promising girl. She was apparently well until three days ago when she developed fever, headache, cough, and catarrh, along with a loss of appetite and skin itching. Upon examination and laboratory investigation, she was diagnosed with malaria, enteric fever, and acute respiratory infection (ARI)

After a thorough examination, she was diagnosed with these conditions and immediately started on a course of antimalarial drugs, antibiotics, and supportive care including fluids and fever management by Nakowa Specialist Hospital. The treatment was successful, and Farida responded well to the medications, with her fever subsiding within a few days and her energy levels gradually returning. Over the next week, her symptoms continued to improve, and she fully recovered, showing no signs of infection. Farida has now returned to her normal activities, playing and interacting with her peers as a healthy and happy child. Her parents expressed deep gratitude to the medical team of Nakowa Specialist Hospital and to Helpster Charity, which made the treatment possible. They thanked the organization for their kindness and support, which saved their daughter's life and brought joy back to their home.

If the URTI is caused by a contagious virus (e.g., the common cold or influenza), untreated individuals can continue to spread the infection to others, potentially leading to outbreaks in close-contact settings like schools or workplaces.
