Gift is a jovial and playful child who lives with her parents. She loves drinking yoghurt and eating sweet cakes. She was brought to the hospital with complaints of cough, irritability, difficulty in breathing, fever and loss of appetite. She has been ailing for the past 4 days and her condition seemed to worsen by the day. The difficulty in breathing is worse at night, keeping her worried parents awake. She has not been feeding well and seems to have lost alot of weight over the past few days.

Gift is a bright-eyed, cheerful little girl who fills her home with laughter. Some time ago, her joyful spirit dimmed when a persistent cough, high fever, and labored breathing left her weak, irritable, and unable to eat. Without treatment, her pneumonia could have led to respiratory failure or sepsis, putting her life at risk. Gift’s family reached out to Helpster Charity, which covered her medical expenses. After being stabilized, Gift was discharged with oral antibiotics to continue her recovery at home.

If not treated immediately Gift would be at risk of developing respiratory failure as a result of lung abscess due to pneumonia infection. There is however a very good prognosis if pneumonia and sepsis are treated urgently with antibiotics and antipyretics. Gift would also be at risk of tissue damage as a result of sepsis.
