Emmanuel lives with his grandmother in the village. He would like to be an electrical engineer when he grows up and is always holding electrical wires, trying to fix them. He likes grafting fruit plans and also enjoys drawing. He is eager to complete school, eventually go to college and graduate so that he can get a job and change his grandmother's poverty status. Emmanuel is a complete orphan, his parents died 5yrs ago. Emmanuel was diagnosed with peptic ulcers disease a few years ago and occassionally has periods of exacerbation. He presented to the facility today with abdominal pain, joint pains, pain on urination and a throbbing headache. He also had nausea. He had experienced the problem for 3 days and this morning the symptoms worsened and he was unable to go to school.

Emmanuel visited the facility with complaints of abdominal pain, joint pain during urination, and a headache. He was referred to the hospital laboratory for tests, including a full haemogram, malaria screening, H. pylori, and urinalysis to check for a urinary tract infection. The results confirmed that he had malaria, peptic ulcers, and a urinary tract infection. Since the passing of his parents a few years ago, Emmanuel has been living with his grandmother, who struggles financially and relies on the kindness of well-wishers. Unable to afford the hospital bills, she was relieved when Helpster stepped in after assessing the family’s situation and covered the medical expenses. Emmanuel recovered well and has since returned to his studies.

The urinary tract infection should be treated immediately, since it may spread onto kidneys, if left untreated. It will also keep causing pain and discomfort if the treatment is not received. Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
