Abba Musa is a thirteen-year-old boy from a low-income home who lives on the outskirts of Maiduguri, near Baga Road. He is playful and enjoys playing pranks with his friends. He dreams of becoming a journalist in the future. He was well until two months ago when he developed oliguria, dysuria, lower abdominal pain, and bloody urine. He was treated for a urinary tract infection in another facility and got some relief. Recently, he suddenly developed urine retention and was rushed to the nearest health facility. A catheter was inserted to relieve the retention, and surgery was proposed, but the family is poor. The patient was virtually referred to UMD for surgery due to insufficient funds. He was diagnosed with a bladder stone and is planned for surgery.

Upon hearing about helpster heroes through one of the beneficiaries of helpster charity,his child we quickly evaluated for bladder stone via radiological examination and was booked for elective surgery on 7/5/25.Had a successful Cystolithotomy and was discharged on 11/5/ 2025.Patient is now stable and feeling well.

If left untreated, bladder stones can lead to severe complications, including chronic bladder dysfunction, frequent urinary tract infections, and potential damage to the bladder lining. Persistent stones may cause blockages in the urinary tract, leading to painful urination, hematuria (blood in the urine), and increased risk of bladder infections. In severe cases, untreated bladder stones can lead to kidney damage and require surgical intervention to remove the stones and prevent further complications.
