Burah is a 3-year old boy who lives at the IDP camp with his family. He is yet to be enrolled in school, always in action and smiling. He likes playing with his peers. He was well until 5 days before the presentation when he started having a fever, abdominal pain, and refusal to feed. There was an initial history of abdominal swelling and vomiting but has subsided 2days before the presentation. He was given an herbal concoction but no improvement. Upon hearing about Helpster Medical outreach in their camp, the mother brought out the child for treatment and after a thorough evaluation by the medical team they are now referred to this facility for treatment.

Modu was admitted and managed as a case of enteric fever. He has his full dosages of IV antibiotics and other supportive medications. His recovery went well as presenting symptoms subsided. He was later discharged home on oral medications to complete his recovery process. Parents were so happy and grateful to helpster charity for coming to their aid.

With prompt antibiotic treatment, a 3-year-old child with enteric fever can make a full recovery, with minimal long-term effects and a normal life expectancy. However, if left untreated, the child risks life-threatening complications, permanent damage to vital organs, and a high mortality rate. Prompt medical attention is crucial to prevent devastating consequences and ensure the child's optimal recovery.
