Oluwatofunmi B., 18

Tofunmi is the fourth one of the family of six, her is a farmer and her mother is a trader. She loves dancing and she would love to be a medical doctor she has a good character with the spirit of leadership. She was apparently well until three months ago when she developed abdominal pain. She was placed on Tab Levofloxacin, Flagyl symptoms initially subsided but later continued{at home until pain got worse on the 6th of March 2025. The patient was unable to stand erect and this was associated with vomiting, fever and headache. On presentation at the hospital, she was examination, there is severe tenderness on the right iliac fossa with rebound tenderness and a diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis was made. She requires urgent surgery to remove the appendix.

Oluwatofunmi was admitted on account of Acute Appendicitis which caused severed acute illness. The surgery was carried out as scheduled successfully with no recorded complications. The patient responded well to the surgery and the post operative management. She was discharged with a stable state of health upon recovery. She is currently doing much better, no abdominal pains or fever, and he is actively playing with friends and family .

If appendicitis is not treated, it can lead to serious complications, the most severe being a ruptured appendix. When the appendix ruptures, it releases bacteria into the abdomen, potentially leading to a serious infection called peritonitis, which can be life-threatening. An abscess, which is a pocket of infection, may also form. Treatment for appendicitis usually involves surgery to remove the appendix, a procedure known as an appendectomy.
