Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

YOBE STATE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL DAMATURU

Damaturu, Yobe State, 6 Gujba Road, Nigeria

Background

Hussaina is a calm girl who likes playing with her toys. She was well until 6 days prior to presentation when she started having cough, coryza and conjunctivitis. 2 days later she started having measles rash, fever and severe difficulty breathing. She was not given any medications because of financial constraints but now brought to this facility for treatment from Helpster Charity. On presentation to the hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with severe pneumonia with measles.

Medical history

Hussaina was diagnosed with measles with severe bronchopneumonia. She was admitted in our facility where she received her full course of IV antibiotics and other supplementary medications. Her recovery was satisfactory as presenting symptoms subsided. She was later discharged home on oral medications to complete her recovery. Parents were grateful to helpster for saving their child.

Outcome

The doctor's prognosis indicates that with prompt and effective treatment, the child can recover from bronchopneumonia and measles, although some may experience lingering respiratory issues. However, if left untreated, the condition can lead to severe complications, including respiratory failure, increased risk of long-term lung damage, and even death, especially in young children or those with weakened immune systems. Timely medical intervention is crucial to prevent these outcomes and ensure the best possible recovery.
