Falmata K., 25

Falmata is a 25-year-old woman, who is very jovial and social. She likes to cook and is aspiring to become a cooking model. She was well until 5-days following deliver of a baby girl through emergency caesarean section, when she developed surgical site infection, pelvic pain, and started leaking urine. Her pregnancy was carried to term and labor started at home, but labor was prolonged and obstructed which resulted to her husband rushing her to the hospital for emergency. On persentation at our hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with surgical site infection and Vesico-vaginal Fistula (VVF), which needed hospital admission and urgent treatment.

Falmata was admitted in our facility where she was managed as a case of Vesico-Vaginal Fistula and Surgical Site Infection following Emergency Cesarean Section. She had appropriate treatment done. As the treatment progressed, she responded well evidenced by resolving of presenting symptoms and healing of the wound. She was later discharged home to complete her recovery and return to her normal life. She was very happy and grateful to helpster for the help she received.

With prompt treatment, there will be a significant improvement in the quality of life, with resolution of the infection and closure of the fistula, allowing for normal bladder function. However, if left untreated, the condition may lead to ongoing infections, chronic discomfort, and potential long-term damage to the urinary tract. Timely intervention is crucial to prevent further complications and ensure the child's overall health and well-being.
