Shaline is a 7-year-old girl from a low-income background who has been out of school for about two weeks due to her health condition. She lives with her grandmother, who is the sole provider for the family. Her grandmother runs a small green grocery stall at a nearby market and earns around 1,800 shillings monthly, depending on customer turnout. Despite her struggles, Shaline remains a cheerful child who longs to recover, return to school, and enjoy life like other girls her age. She is a known sickle cell patient and was brought to the health facility by her grandmother in severe pain. After a thorough assessment, she was admitted and started on appropriate treatment.

Shaline was diagnosed with malaria and anemia . She was admitted and treated with antibiotics, antimalarial and on discharge she was given sickle cell drugs to take while at home and advised to attend clinics monthly. She is now back to his usual activities: she goes to school in the morning, and spends most of his time at school. Prognosis is good since the condition was diagnosed early enough and if the condition could have remained untreated it could have resulted to infections and organ damage.
