Emmanuel B., 5

Emmanuel is a two-year-old boy who lives with his family in a rural village that lacks electricity. To access water, they must walk over 30 minutes to a nearby stream. His father, the sole breadwinner, works as a driver at a local day school, earning KES 3,000 to support the entire household. Emmanuel has been diagnosed with sickle cell disease and attends regular medical checkups, but the family faces challenges in affording his medication. Three days ago, Emmanuel began experiencing a persistent cough that worsens at night and often causes him to vomit after severe coughing fits. His mother also notes that he has a low-grade fever and a significantly reduced appetite. He was diagnosed with severe malaria.

Emmanuel, a known sickle cell anemia patient, was experiencing a vaso-occlusive crisis and also had moderate anemia. He received treatment that included antibiotics, rehydration fluids, and medication for sickle cell management. Once his condition stabilized, he was discharged from the hospital to continue treatment at home. During a follow-up call from a Helpster volunteer, his grandmother expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the quality care and support provided by Helpster Charity. Emmanuel is doing well

Emmanuel was diagnosed with pneumonia and he is a know sickle cell client,he was treated well now prognosis is good and he is doing well and he was left untreated, Emmanuel could have experienced a range of serious complications, including chronic pain, increased risk of infections, organ damage, and reduced life expectancy. These complications can significantly impact quality of life and shorten lifespan.
