Abraham is a 4 month old baby living with his parents in Bauchi. Born into a poor family, he faces the challenges of limited access to proper healthcare and nutrition. Despite their struggles, his parents care for him with love and hope for a healthier, brighter future for their little boy. Abraham started having a cough and difficulty breathing, along with a fever that wouldn’t go away. He also became unusually fussy and was constantly pulling at his ears, showing signs of discomfort and pain. His parents grew worried as he struggled to feed and sleep properly, prompting them to seek medical help. On presentation at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with Respiratory Tract Infection and Acute Otitis Media.

Abraham came to Albisbir Hospital with cough, fever and general weakness. After a thorough evaluation and investigations, he was diagnosed with Respiratory Tract Infection and Acute Otitis Media. Thanks to the support from Helpster Charity, he was admitted for 3 days, received injection antibiotics and other appropriate care. Upon clinical improvement and resolution of symptoms, he was discharged home on oral antibiotics and other medications. The family left with Abraham happy and thankful.

With prompt and appropriate treatment, most children recover fully from respiratory tract infections and acute ear infections without complications. Symptoms usually improve within a few days to weeks. However, if left untreated, these infections can lead to more serious issues like hearing loss, spread of infection, or chronic respiratory problems. Early medical care and proper follow-up are important to ensure a full recovery.
