Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Umme Ruman is a sweet and innocent two-year-old girl living with her parents and four young siblings in a Rohingya camp, where the family struggles daily in extreme poverty. Her father, who lovingly cares for all his children, has no stable income and cannot afford specialized eye treatment outside the camp. After she suddenly injured her left eye and was diagnosed with a corneal abrasion, her parents became deeply worried as she cried in pain and could not open her eye properly. With five small children to care for and no financial resources, the family is unable to bear the cost of hospital care. If she does not receive urgent and proper treatment, the injury could worsen, leading to serious infection, permanent vision damage, or even loss of sight in the affected eye, which is why they sought immediate help through Helpster Volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad.
Medical history
Umme Kulsum is a bright and innocent two-year-old girl living in the Rohingya camp in Bangladesh. She lives with her parents and four siblings, all under the age of five. One day, she sustained an injury to her left eye. Her father immediately took her to the nearest IOM PHCC, but the facility was unable to provide adequate emergency care. With the help of a Helpster volunteer, Mr. Azad, Umme Kulsum and a family member were transferred to Orion Hospital for proper evaluation and treatment. At the hospital, she received full medical care, including topical antibiotic eye drops, lubricating drops, analgesics, and eye patching. The medical team closely monitored her, ensuring that complications were prevented. Despite being admitted for only two days, this adorable little girl recovered beautifully. She returned home in excellent condition, and post-operative follow-up confirmed that she is doing very well. The entire family is immensely grateful to the Helpster team for their timely assistance and support, which helped Umme Kulsum get back to a healthy and happy life.
Outcome
The doctor has advised immediate treatment with antibiotic eye drops, lubricating ointment, pain relief medication, and protective eye patching, along with close follow-up to ensure proper healing. With timely and appropriate care, Umme Ruman’s eye is expected to heal completely, relieving her pain and restoring normal vision without long-term effects. Guidance on hygiene and safe practices will further reduce the risk of infection and support a smooth recovery. However, if left untreated, the corneal abrasion could become infected and develop into a corneal ulcer, which may cause permanent scarring. In severe cases, this can lead to partial or complete loss of vision in the affected eye, making urgent treatment essential to protect her sight.
