Twelve-year-old Lamia Akter is a bright and lively village girl whose laughter once filled her modest home. Her father, burdened by poverty, recently went abroad after borrowing money from kind neighbors, but he has not yet been able to earn, leaving Lamia, her mother, and the family in deep financial distress. After falling from a rooftop while playing, she suffered a serious fracture in her right thigh and now lies in severe pain, unable to walk, as doctors warn that without urgent surgery she may face permanent disability. Her helpless mother, with no savings and mounting debts, cannot afford the cost of the operation and fears for her daughter’s future. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Mazhar Shihab, and in this critical moment, they are praying for support so Lamia can walk, study, and dream again.

The patient, Lamia Akter, learned about Helpster through one of the owners of the hospital and came to Modern Hospital on 07/02/2026. We admitted her and arranged for her to be examined by a specialist doctor. The doctor informed us that a fall from a height (roof of a building), followed by inability to walk, severe pain, and massive swelling in the right thigh, is a medical emergency. This presentation strongly suggests a right femoral fracture (thigh bone fracture) until proven otherwise. The doctor advised that surgery was necessary. The operation was performed the following day. On 10/02/2026, the patient was discharged from the hospital. We hope that she will recover quickly.

Doctors have recommended ORIF (Open Reduction and Internal Fixation) with a Narrow DCP plate to properly align and stabilize Lamia’s broken thigh bone. With this surgery, the bone can heal in the correct position, allowing her to gradually regain strength, stand, and walk normally again after recovery and rehabilitation. The prognosis is very good if the operation is done in time, and she is expected to return to her regular activities, including school and play. However, if left untreated, the bone may heal improperly or not heal at all, leading to permanent deformity, chronic pain, and lifelong difficulty in walking. In severe cases, it could leave her permanently disabled and unable to live an active, independent life.
