Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital

Cumilla Road, Chandpur-3600, Bangladesh

Background

One-month-old Ilham Bin Habib is a calm and gentle baby whose presence has brought hope to his parents and elderly grandparents in their small tin-made home in Rajargaon village. After surviving serious breathing problems and days of hospital treatment, doctors discovered a severe condition in both of his eyes that now requires urgent care to prevent permanent blindness. His father, Md. Habibur Rahman, is unemployed and earns only about BDT 5,000 per month from occasional day labor, which is not enough to support Ilham, his mother Tamima Akter, and his aged grandparents, making the cost of further treatment impossible to manage. The family has already exhausted their limited savings on his newborn care and struggles even to meet daily household expenses. They learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital in Chandpur, and are now humbly seeking assistance to save their baby’s eyesight and future.

Medical history

Ilham Bin Habib, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 22.01.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Ilham urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin in both eyes, followed by regular follow-up examinations to monitor retinal development. The doctors are hopeful that if treatment is given immediately, the abnormal blood vessel growth can be controlled, and his vision can be preserved, allowing him to live a normal and independent life. However, if treatment is delayed or not provided, the retinal damage may become irreversible, leading to lifelong blindness.
