Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital

Cumilla Road, Chandpur-3600, Bangladesh

Background

Baby Ahammad Ullah, a one-month-old premature boy, fills his parents’ small tin home in Chandpur with hope whenever he softly smiles at them. His father, Md Faruk, works hard as a farmer earning only about BDT 7,500 a month, while his mother Halima cares for their fragile newborn, leaving the family with no savings after paying for his early hospital care. Because of their limited income, they cannot afford the urgent treatment needed for Ahammad’s eyes. Without this treatment, he may lose his sight and never be able to see the loving faces of his parents or the world around him. A counselor at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital told the family about Helpster Charity, and they now hope for support to save their baby’s vision and future.

Medical history

Ahammad Ullah, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 20.11.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Ahammad urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin in both eyes, followed by routine follow-up examinations to monitor retinal development. The doctors are hopeful that with timely treatment, his vision can be preserved, allowing him to grow up like other children. However, if the treatment is delayed, the damage may become irreversible, leading to lifelong blindness. The total cost of the injection and follow-up care is approximately BDT 18,000, which is far beyond the family’s financial ability. With generous support, Ahammad can be given the priceless gift of sight and the opportunity to live a bright and independent life.
