Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Six-year-old Mohammad Habib is a gentle and playful child who lives with his parents, his little sister Habiba, and his two grandmothers in a small crowded room in Geneva Bihari Camp. His parents, Abdur Rahman and Sama Begum, struggle daily to provide food and basic needs for the family, and their difficult living conditions make it impossible to afford medical treatment. Recently, Habib began suffering from severe ear pain, fever, and hearing problems, and doctors at Al Manar Hospital discovered hardened wax in both ears and a small plastic ball stuck in his right ear, causing infection and discomfort. If the object and blockage are not removed in time, his condition could worsen and lead to serious infection and permanent hearing loss, affecting his ability to learn and communicate as he grows. After learning about Helpster Charity through a joint outreach camp by Helpster and Al Manar Hospital, his family is now seeking support so that Habib can receive proper treatment and return to a healthy childhood.

Medical history

Six-year-old Mohammad Habib was admitted to Al Manar Hospital, Dhaka on 16 February 2026 with complaints of ear pain and hearing problems. After medical examination, doctors diagnosed him with impacted wax in both ears, which was causing discomfort and reduced hearing. On 17 February 2026, a procedure was successfully performed under GA by Dr. Md. Ibrahim Khalil Ullah to remove the impacted wax from his ears. Following the treatment and proper medication, Habib’s condition improved, and he was safely discharged on 18 February 2026 with advice for follow-up care. Habib’s family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers, and Al Manar Hospital for their kind support and compassionate care that helped their child recover.

Outcome

Removal of the impacted wax and foreign body under general anesthesia (GA) is a safe and effective treatment that is expected to provide immediate relief from symptoms such as pain, discomfort, and hearing loss. Following the procedure, the patient is likely to regain normal ear function, improved hearing, and a better quality of life without ongoing irritation or risk of infection. Early intervention also prevents potential complications such as damage to the eardrum, chronic ear infections, or long-term hearing impairment. If left untreated, the condition may worsen, leading to severe infection, persistent pain, and possible spread of infection to nearby structures, which can significantly impact overall health. Therefore, timely treatment is essential to ensure a full recovery and prevent serious, potentially life-threatening complications.
