Tabassum Akter is a bright and gentle 6-year-old girl who lives with her parents in a small overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp, where life is already a daily struggle. Her father, Ekram, pulls a rickshaw and earns only about 8,500 BDT per month, barely enough to support the family, while her mother, Farzana Akter, stays home to care for her child. When Tabassum developed severe cough, fever, and breathing difficulty, doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia along with a congenital heart condition (VSD), requiring urgent medical treatment and close monitoring. With no savings and such a limited income, her parents simply cannot afford the hospital costs. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp, and without this support, Tabassum’s condition could worsen dangerously, putting her fragile heart and young life at serious risk.

The patient Tabassum Akter, aged 6 years, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 16 February 2026 with the diagnosis of Pneumonia with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). She received inpatient treatment including oxygen therapy, intravenous antibiotics, nebulization, and close pediatric monitoring due to respiratory distress. Following several days of careful management, her condition gradually improved and she became clinically stable. She was discharged on 20 February 2026 with medical advice for follow-up care and continued medication at home. The patient’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity for providing essential support during her treatment and recovery.

According to the doctor’s treatment plan, Tabassum needs immediate hospitalization under a pediatric specialist, along with intravenous (parenteral) antibiotics, oxygen therapy, nebulization, and close monitoring of her vital signs. With proper and timely treatment, the infection in her lungs can be controlled, her breathing will improve, and her overall condition can gradually stabilize. Early medical care will also help doctors carefully monitor her Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and prevent further strain on her heart and lungs. However, if Tabassum does not receive this treatment, the pneumonia could worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulty, dangerously low oxygen levels, and life-threatening complications. In such a fragile child with an existing heart condition, untreated infection could seriously threaten her survival and long-term health.
