Five-year-old Md. Sajjad Ali lives with his parents, Samir Hossain and Champa Akter, and his elder brother Md. Sabbir Ali in the crowded Geneva Bihari Camp. His father works as a saloon worker and earns a very small income, which is only enough to manage basic daily expenses, leaving the family unable to afford medical treatment. Sajjad has had a deformity in his right leg since birth, and during the past year he has faced increasing difficulty in standing and walking. Recently, he also developed fever and mild breathing difficulty, which led his family to seek help during a medical outreach camp organized by Al-Manar Hospital and Helpster Charity on 16 February 2026. Without proper treatment, his condition may worsen and affect his ability to walk and grow normally, which deeply worries his parents.

Sajjad Ali was admitted to Al Manar Hospital, Dhaka on 16 February 2026 at 01:03 PM with complaints of leg deformity since birth, difficulty standing and walking for the past year, and fever with mild respiratory distress for five days. After medical evaluation, doctors diagnosed him with Nutritional Rickets with PUO (Pyrexia of Unknown Origin) and provided conservative treatment, including medications, nutritional supplements, and close medical observation. During his hospital stay, the medical team monitored his condition and started supportive therapy to improve his bone health and overall recovery. After receiving treatment and stabilizing, Sajjad Ali was successfully discharged on 20 February 2026 with medicines and medical advice for continued care at home. Sajjad’s family expresses their sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity and its dedicated volunteers, as well as the doctors and staff of Al Manar Hospital, for their generous support, compassionate care, and assistance during this difficult time.

Doctors have recommended conservative and supportive treatment along with the use of a mermaid splint to help correct the alignment of Sajjad’s leg and support proper bone development. With regular medical care, nutritional support, and proper use of the splint, his bones can gradually become stronger and his ability to stand and walk may significantly improve. Early treatment will also help prevent further deformity and support his normal growth as a child. However, if he does not receive proper care, the bone weakness and deformity may worsen over time. This could lead to permanent difficulty in walking and may severely affect his mobility and quality of life in the future.
