Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Abdullah Sheikh is a cheerful and playful 3-year-old boy who lives with his parents in a small, overcrowded shelter in Kuril Bosti, Dhaka, where living conditions are very difficult. His father, Ajijul Sheikh, earns only about 5,000 BDT per month as a daily wage laborer, which barely covers the family’s basic needs, leaving them unable to afford costly medical treatment. When Abdullah suddenly became seriously ill with high fever, cough, bleeding from the nose and mouth, loose stool, and convulsions, his worried parents rushed him to several hospitals, but many refused to admit him because he was suspected to have measles, a highly contagious disease. Without urgent treatment and isolation, the infection could have worsened rapidly, leading to severe complications such as dehydration, pneumonia, or even life-threatening conditions. In their most desperate moment, the family found hope when Dr. Pritom and Dr. Ibrahim from Dhaka Medical College connected them with Helpster Charity, whose volunteers helped arrange admission and lifesaving care for Abdullah.

Medical history

Abdullah Sheikh was admitted to the hospital on 13 February 2026 at 03:01 AM after being diagnosed with measles with eye and mouth complications associated with pneumonia and scarlet fever. Due to the highly contagious nature of the illness, he was kept in an isolated cabin for strict infection control, where he received 18 days of hospitalization with conservative treatment including antibiotics, supportive medications, nutrition, and close medical monitoring. During this period, the hospital also provided food and supportive care to ensure the child’s recovery and safety. With continuous treatment and careful observation, Abdullah’s condition gradually improved and he was successfully discharged on 03 March 2026 with medicines and medical advice. Abdullah’s family expresses their deepest gratitude to Helpster Charity and its dedicated volunteers, as well as the hospital doctors and staff, for their compassionate care, financial assistance, and life-saving support during this critical time.

Outcome

The child is currently hospitalized in an isolated room under strict Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures, where doctors are providing conservative management including antibiotic therapy, nutritional support, and continuous medical monitoring. According to the doctors, with proper treatment, supportive care, and careful observation, the child’s infection and complications can gradually improve, allowing the immune system to recover and reducing the risk of long-term health problems. Adequate nutrition, medications, and monitoring of vital signs will help stabilize the child and support a safe recovery. However, if the condition is left untreated, the infections could rapidly worsen, leading to severe pneumonia, dehydration, worsening eye and mouth complications, and possible life-threatening respiratory failure. Early hospitalization and strict infection control are therefore essential to protect the child’s life and prevent further complications.
