Faiza Mohammed is a 6-year-old girl from a financially challenged family that depends on assistance to access healthcare. She enjoys singing rhymes, playing with her dolls, and dreams of becoming a nurse to care for sick children in her community. She presented with a 4-day history of cough, catarrh, low-grade fever, and sore throat, along with nasal congestion, mild breathing difficulty, poor sleep due to coughing, and reduced appetite. On examination, she was mildly ill-looking with an inflamed throat and nasal discharge. She was diagnosed with an upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) and started on treatment including antibiotics, antipyretics, cough relief medication, fluids, and monitoring of her vital signs.

After falling seriously ill with persistent cough,nasal congestion,fever, accompanied by sore throat since 4 days.Faiza struggled to keep up with school and daily life. Her family, worried and without enough money for treatment, turned to Helpster Charity for support. Thanks to Helpster Charity, she was evaluated and investigated in UMD hospital and diagnosed with severe Upper respiratory tract infection. She was admitted and had antibiotics,intravenous fluids with other supportive treatment in the hospital for 3 days. Slowly, she recovered, symptoms subsided, and she regained her strength. She was discharged home with her parents, and she can enjoy her childhood and return to school. Upper respiratory tract infection is a common condition in children, typically involving the nose and throat, and is often self-limiting. However, it can cause significant discomfort and, in some cases, may progress or lead to complications if not properly managed, especially in younger children. With appropriate treatment, including symptomatic care and monitoring, the patient is expected to make a full recovery. Prognosis is generally good, though inadequate care may result in worsening symptoms or secondary infection.
