Two-and-a-half-year-old Azan Hossen is a gentle child who once tried to stand and play but now struggles even to sit because of his condition. His father, Anowar Hossen, earns only around 8,000 BDT per month as a daily wage laborer, which is just enough to support his wife, Fatema Akter, and their family, leaving no ability to pay for medical treatment. As Azan’s condition worsens, his legs continue to bend and his weakness increases, while the family remains unable to afford the care he urgently needs. His illness falls within Helpster Charity’s support criteria as he is a vulnerable child from a low-income family suffering from a serious but treatable condition requiring urgent medical and nutritional care. Without proper treatment, he may suffer permanent bone deformities and may never be able to walk normally. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity in collaboration with Al-Manar Hospital giving them hope for their child’s recovery.

The patient Azan Hossen, aged 2 years 6 months, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 11 March 2026 with the diagnosis of Nutritional Rickets. He remained admitted for 5 days and received conservative medical management, including Vitamin D and calcium supplementation along with supportive care. Following treatment, his condition showed gradual improvement, and he was discharged on 16 March 2026 with advice for continued medication, nutrition, and regular follow-up. Despite improvement, he still requires ongoing care to regain normal mobility and prevent complications. The patient’s family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity for providing essential support during his treatment journey.

Doctors have advised that with continuous treatment including Vitamin D, calcium, proper nutrition, and supportive care, Azan has a good chance of improvement and can gradually regain strength in his bones. This treatment will help correct bone weakness, support normal growth, and improve his ability to sit, stand, and eventually walk. With proper care, he can lead a healthier and more active childhood. However, if left untreated, his bones may become more severely deformed, leading to permanent disability and difficulty in movement. Over time, this could greatly affect his quality of life and limit his ability to live independently in the future.
