Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mustakim Tohobilder, a calm and gentle one-month-old baby, is fighting for his vision while his family dreams of seeing him grow up healthy alongside his twin brother Mursalin and sister Morium. His father, Nahim Tohobilder, earns only 8000 BDT per month as a mason, which must support the entire family of five, leaving no ability to afford the costly eye treatment both twins urgently need. Despite their hardship, Mustakim’s quiet nature and soft responses to his mother’s voice bring hope and strength to the family. Without timely treatment, his condition could lead to permanent blindness, affecting not only his future but also placing a lifelong burden on his struggling parents. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteers Al Amin and Nasima Akter, the family is now seeking support to save their child’s eyesight and give him a chance at a normal life.

Medical history

Mustakim Tohobilder, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 18.02.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Mustakim requires immediate Avastin injection in both eyes followed by regular retinal follow-up under specialist supervision. The doctors believe that if treatment is given without delay, Mustakim has a strong chance of preserving useful eyesight and achieving normal visual development. Early intervention can prevent progression to blindness and significantly improve his quality of life. Without treatment, the abnormal retinal vessels may continue growing, causing retinal detachment and permanent blindness. At such a young age, delayed treatment could permanently change the child’s future, making simple daily activities impossible without lifelong support. The doctors strongly recommend urgent donor support so this child can receive the treatment needed within the critical treatment window. Timely help today can save his sight for life.
