Mohammed Helal, an innocent and gentle 8-year-old boy, lives with his parents and siblings in a fragile shelter, where his father’s irregular income as a day laborer is not enough to meet basic needs, making it impossible for the family to afford his treatment. When he began experiencing painful swelling and discomfort, his parents took him to a BRAC-supported Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in Camp No. 14, where a doctor examined him and advised surgery due to the seriousness of his condition. Over time, his pain has become more frequent and severe, affecting his eating, behavior, and daily life. The family later came to know about Helpster Charity through volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad and is now seeking support for his treatment. Without timely intervention, his condition may worsen and lead to serious complications, putting his health at significant risk.

Mohammad Helal, a 08-year-old male child, was admitted on 26.04.2026 with complaints of scrotal swelling, associated with intermittent groin pain and swelling for one year at Orion Hospital through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed. On admission, a thorough clinical examination and necessary investigations were performed to confirm the diagnosis. The patient was diagnosed with a right-sided reducible incomplete direct hernia and subsequently underwent herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) under General Anesthesia. Post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and follow-up, was provided to ensure full recovery. He remained hospitalized for four days, and the operation was performed on 28.04.2026. The patient was discharged on 01.05.2026 in a stable condition with medications, dietary advice, and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

Doctors have recommended a herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) to correct Mohammed Helal’s condition and prevent further complications. With proper postoperative care, including pain management, wound care, and regular follow-up visits, he is expected to make a full recovery and return to normal childhood activities without pain or restriction. The procedure will relieve his recurring discomfort, improve his appetite, and allow him to grow and play like other children his age. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become trapped or obstructed, cutting off blood supply to the intestine and leading to a life-threatening emergency. Timely surgery will not only restore his health but also protect his future well-being and development.
