Azida, a young Rohingya refugee girl, lives with her parents and younger siblings in a fragile UNHCR shelter where her father’s small daily earnings are barely enough for food, making medical treatment unaffordable. She is a bright and hopeful child who dreams of becoming a doctor, but her illness has left her in severe pain, unable to eat or sleep properly. She developed worsening throat pain, fever, and breathing difficulty, and was diagnosed with acute exacerbation of chronic adenotonsillitis. Her parents and siblings are deeply worried but feel helpless due to their financial hardship. They learned about Helpster Charity through social worker Md. Mizanur Rahman and sought help, as without timely treatment, her condition may worsen, leading to severe infection, breathing obstruction, and life-threatening complications.

Mst. Azida, a 4-year-old female child, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 03.05.2026 through Helpster volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad with complaints of severe throat pain associated with painful swallowing, progressively worsening high-grade intermittent fever, marked difficulty in swallowing resulting in reduced oral intake, persistent nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, disturbed sleep, loud snoring, nasal voice, and breathing difficulty through the nose. Following detailed clinical assessment and necessary laboratory investigations, she was diagnosed with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Adenotonsillitis with Adenoid Hypertrophy. She was hospitalized for close monitoring and received therapy for hypoxemia, evaluation and pharmacological management of pneumonia and fever, correction of fluid and electrolyte imbalance, nutritional support, and preparation for ganglion excision by a general surgeon. She remained hospitalized for four days and was discharged on 07.05.2026 in stable condition with appropriate medications, follow-up advice, and further treatment planning. Immediate hospitalization followed by confirmation through clinical and laboratory investigations. After adequate stabilization, definitive surgical management is planned, Adenotonsillectomy to be performed under General Anesthesia (GA). The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their compassionate support and care throughout the child's treatment.

The doctors have recommended definitive surgical treatment through Adenotonsillectomy, which is expected to significantly improve Azida’s quality of life. After the surgery, her breathing will become normal, her throat pain will resolve, and she will be able to eat, sleep, and grow properly like a healthy child. The procedure will also prevent repeated infections and reduce the risk of long-term complications. However, if left untreated, her condition may worsen, leading to severe breathing obstruction, frequent infections, poor nutrition, and delayed growth. In the worst case, the airway blockage and ongoing complications could become life-threatening, making timely surgery essential for her recovery and future well-being.
