Mohammed Anam, a gentle and curious 5-year-old child, lives with his parents and siblings in a small makeshift shelter, where his father works irregularly as a community health volunteer, making it difficult for the seven-member family to meet basic needs or afford medical care. Despite these hardships, Anam is a playful and innocent child whose illness has caused pain and discomfort, affecting his daily activities. He has been suffering from swelling in the groin area, now diagnosed as a reducible inguinal hernia, which requires proper treatment. His parents are deeply worried but cannot bear the cost due to financial limitations. They learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Mohammed Abu Sayeed and sought help, as without timely treatment, the hernia may become trapped, leading to severe pain, complications, and life-threatening risk.

Mohammad Anam, a 04-year-old male Refugee child, was admitted on 26.04.2026 with complaints of scrotal swelling, associated with intermittent groin pain and swelling for one year at Orion Hospital through Helpster volunteer Md Abu Sayeed. On admission, a thorough clinical examination and necessary investigations were performed to confirm the diagnosis. The patient was diagnosed with a right-sided reducible incomplete direct hernia and subsequently underwent herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) under General Anesthesia. Post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and follow-up, was provided to ensure full recovery. He remained hospitalized for 05 days, and the operation was performed on 28.04.2026. The patient was discharged on 01.05.2026 in a stable condition with medications, dietary advice, and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

Doctors have recommended a herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) to correct Mohammed's condition and prevent further complications. With proper postoperative care, including pain management, wound care, and regular follow-up visits, he is expected to make a full recovery and return to normal childhood activities without pain or restriction. The procedure will relieve his recurring discomfort, improve his appetite, and allow him to grow and play like other children his age. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become trapped or obstructed, cutting off blood supply to the intestine and leading to a life-threatening emergency. Timely surgery will not only restore his health but also protect his future well-being and development.
