Fatema Khatun, an 8-month-old baby girl, is the beloved child of a poor family who are already struggling to recover from the financial burden of her previous emergency intestinal surgery. Her parents live with very limited income and have exhausted their savings trying to save their baby’s life, making it impossible to afford another operation. Despite her suffering, Fatema remains a calm and innocent child whose smile brings hope to her worried parents and family members. After her earlier surgery for intestinal obstruction, swelling gradually developed around the operation site, and doctors later diagnosed her with a post-laparotomy incisional hernia requiring urgent surgical correction. Without timely treatment, the hernia may become trapped or strangulated, causing severe pain, intestinal damage, life-threatening infection, or another emergency surgery that could seriously endanger her life and future health

The patient Fatema Khatun, aged 8 months, was admitted to Olympus Hospital Pvt. Ltd. on 26 April 2026 at 10:31 AM with the diagnosis of post-laparotomy incisional hernia. She underwent anatomical correction of incisional hernia under general anesthesia on 28 April 2026 at 11:00 PM. After surgery, Fatema stayed in the hospital for around 8 days, where doctors monitored her recovery and provided medicine and wound care. She showed steady improvement and was discharged on 4 May 2026 at 12:50 PM with advice for breastfeeding, regular medicine, hygiene, and incision care. Doctors have advised anatomical correction of the incisional hernia under general anesthesia (G.A.) to repair the weakened abdominal wall and prevent further complications. With timely surgery and proper follow-up care, Fatema Khatun has a good chance of recovery, allowing her to grow normally without ongoing pain or abdominal swelling. The treatment will help protect her intestines, improve comfort, and reduce the risk of future emergency complications. However, if left untreated, the hernia may enlarge or become trapped, causing intestinal obstruction, severe infection, damage to the intestine, or strangulation of bowel tissue. In a small baby, these complications can rapidly become life-threatening and may require emergency surgery to save her life.
