Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mercy is a 40 yo woman and a mother of 4, she stays with her husband and children in a small community in Bauchi State. They are a struggling family, finding it difficult to meet their needs. The husband is not currently employed, Mercy is a house wife. Their home is a rented apartment, mostly begging the landlord before they could settle the rent. They use well water, no electricity, they have a pit toilet and 10,000 monthly income. Mrs Mercy a 40yo has a history of five perinatal fetal death. She presented at term with symptoms of labour for the past five days. She has had augmentation of labour but with no significant progress. Caesarean section was offered but she does not have money for the surgery. She heard about Helpster and decided to come for help due to lack. On examination, she was having labour contractions but with no significant progress, afebrile, with normal blood pressure and other vital signs. Abdomen: Gravid uterus with persistent fetal tachycardia ranging between 170 to 180/minute Diagnosis of Prolonged Obstructed Labour with Fetal Distress at Term was made.

Medical history

Following prompt medical intervention and successful delivery via CS, both mother and baby responded well to treatment and supportive care. Mrs. Mercy gradually recovered from the stress and exhaustion associated with prolonged labour, with stable vital signs and satisfactory postpartum progress. The baby was closely monitored after delivery and she showed steady improvement with good feeding, normal breathing, and stable activity. Proper evaluation, quick decisive team approach between Helpster and the medical team on ground contributed positively to the overall recovery and wellbeing of both mother and child. Mother was very satisfied with care and thankful to Helpster for their lifesaving intervention.

Outcome

Mrs. Mercy experienced prolonged labour complicated by fetal distress at term, indicating compromised fetal wellbeing secondary to obstructed and ineffective labour. Immediate C/S was necessary to achieve safe delivery and reduce the risk of maternal and neonatal complications. Close postpartum monitoring of both mother and baby is recommended to detect and manage possible complications such as birth asphyxia, infection, postpartum hemorrhage, or neonatal respiratory distress. Prognosis is generally favorable with timely and appropriate cesarean section to deliver the mother.
