Tabassum Akter Sikha is a brave and hardworking 14-year-old girl who dreams of continuing her studies and building a better future for her struggling family. She lives with her parents and siblings in a small tin-made house where her father, Shamsul Haque, works in a canteen in Dhaka and earns only around 8,000 BDT per month, which is not enough to manage household expenses, education costs, and urgent medical treatment. Sikha has been suffering from a painful eye problem that causes constant watering, irritation, and infection, making it difficult for her to study, play football, and continue normal daily activities, while her worried parents fear she may lose her eyesight permanently. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Al Amin, the family sought urgent help for her treatment and surgery. Without proper treatment, the eye condition may become more severe and could lead to serious complications and permanent vision loss.

Tabassum Akter Sikha, a 14-year-old girl, required treatment for a left-eye condition affecting her vision and needed DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy) surgery to help restore proper tear drainage and improve her visual comfort. She was admitted to the hospital for evaluation and surgical management and underwent DCR surgery on her left eye under General Anesthesia on 08.05.2026, performed by Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant of the Hospital. The procedure was completed successfully, and her condition showed improvement following treatment. She was discharged after receiving appropriate post-operative care and monitoring. We are hopeful that Sikha will continue to recover well and be able to see clearly as her healing progresses. We sincerely thank Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support, which helped this young child receive the treatment she needed and move closer to regaining her vision.

According to the specialist doctors at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Sikha urgently requires DCR surgery in her left eye along with routine follow-up care. The treatment and surgery will be provided by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant of the hospital. The doctors are hopeful that with timely surgery, Sikha’s eye condition can be successfully treated, relieving her pain and protecting her eyesight. This procedure will help restore normal tear drainage, prevent infection, and allow her to continue her studies and daily activities with confidence. However, if the surgery is delayed or left untreated, Sikha may face severe infection, chronic pain, and possible permanent vision loss in her left eye.
