Sulaiman R., 13

Sulaiman Rudro is a kind-hearted and determined 13-year-old boy who studies in Class 7 and dreams of becoming a social worker so he can help people in need. His father, Md. Jashimuddin (42), earns only about 8,500 Taka per month by selling broiler chickens, while his mother, Hera Akter (33), is a housewife caring for Sulaiman and his younger brother, Azan Al Hashem (3), making it impossible for the family to afford expensive medical treatment. Since birth, Sulaiman has suffered from scoliosis, and as he has grown older, the curvature of his spine has become more severe, causing chronic back pain, difficulty walking, and increasing limitations in his daily activities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer ABM Alamgir, who guided them in seeking support when they had no other options. Without timely treatment, the spinal deformity may continue to worsen, leading to severe disability, persistent pain, breathing difficulties, reduced mobility

According to the treating physician, the current treatment with pain-relieving medications, muscle relaxants, regular monitoring, and corrective surgery at a later stage is expected to reduce Sulaiman Rudro’s back pain, improve his posture, and slow further progression of the spinal curvature. Corrective surgery is expected to improve spinal alignment, mobility, physical function, and overall quality of life, helping him participate more comfortably in school and daily activities. If left untreated, the spinal deformity may continue to worsen, resulting in severe chronic pain, increasing difficulty with walking and standing, reduced physical independence, and significant deformity of the spine and chest.
