Lenox is the second-born child in his family and lives with his siblings, cousin, aunt, and uncle in a modest two-roomed mud-walled house. He and his siblings were orphaned at a young age and have since been under the care of their aunt and uncle. Lenox is currently in Grade 9 and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. The family depends largely on his aunt, who works as a casual laborer at a local school, and his uncle, a small-scale farmer. On the night of the incident, Lenox had finished washing clothes and was preparing to take a bath. He returned to the washing area to pick up a bar of soap he had left on the grass when he suddenly felt a sharp sting on his hand. He immediately noticed a shiny dark snake slithering away and realized that he had been bitten. Lenox quickly raised an alarm, and his brothers responded by tying a piece of cloth around the affected finger before rushing him to a nearby dispensary. He was later transferred to a sub-county hospital for further management. As the swelling progressively spread through his hand, he was stabilized and referred to Siaya County Referral Hospital for specialized treatment.

A 16-year-old patient diagnosed with cellulitis of the right little finger, gangrene of the affected digit, and requiring disarticulation (surgical removal) of the finger secondary to a snake bite has a guarded to good prognosis, depending on the severity of the infection, the extent of tissue damage, the type of snake involved, and the timeliness of treatment. Lenox received prompt urgent medical response, from the first aid administered by his brothers to the time he received medical treatment in the hospital, he is expected to make a full recovery.
