Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Adiba Akter is a gentle and quiet 5-year-old girl who dreams of living a happy childhood free from pain. She lives with her parents and her elder sister, who is physically disabled, in a family that depends entirely on her father's small income as a day laborer. Despite working hard every day, her father struggles to provide food, medicine, and daily necessities, making the cost of surgery impossible for the family to afford. For the past three years, Adiba has suffered from pain and swelling near her navel, and her parents watch helplessly as the condition gradually worsens. Without timely surgery, the hernia could become trapped, causing severe pain, bowel blockage, loss of blood supply to the intestine, serious infection, and other life-threatening complications. The family became heartbroken after learning about the urgent need for surgery and later learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Jamilur Reza, giving them hope that Adiba can receive the treatment she desperately needs.
Medical history
On 24 May 2026, 5-year-old Adiba Akter arrived at Modern Hospital, Cumilla, accompanied by her father, with complaints of severe abdominal pain. Upon arrival, she was immediately examined by the attending physician. After conducting a thorough physical examination, the doctor recommended several diagnostic tests and, based on the results, determined that surgery was necessary. The doctor diagnosed Adiba with a supraumbilical hernia, a condition that required urgent surgical intervention. All the necessary medical tests were completed on the same day, and her surgery began at 2:25 PM. The procedure was successfully completed without any complications. Following the surgery, Adiba gradually recovered under the close supervision of the doctors and the dedicated follow-up care provided by the nursing staff. Her condition improved steadily, and on 26 May 2026, she was discharged from the hospital in stable condition and returned home safely with her family. Adiba's successful recovery brought immense joy to her parents and loved ones. Their happiness was beyond words. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity for its generous support and extended their sincere appreciation to the entire medical team at Modern Hospital for their dedicated care, professionalism, and commitment throughout Adiba's treatment and recovery.
Outcome
According to the treating doctors, Herniotomy is the definitive treatment for Adiba’s supra umbilical hernia. The surgery will repair the weakness in the abdominal wall, relieve her pain and swelling, and prevent the hernia from becoming larger or causing further complications. With timely surgical treatment, Adiba is expected to recover well and return to her normal childhood activities without discomfort. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become trapped (incarcerated) or strangulated, cutting off the blood supply to the affected tissue. This can lead to severe abdominal pain, vomiting, bowel obstruction, tissue death, serious infection, and potentially life-threatening complications requiring emergency surgery.
