Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

AL- AQSA HOSPITAL & DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE

Jodrn Road, Barishal, P.O Box. No-8200

Background

Mohammad Shafin is a 1-year-old boy who lives with his parents and elderly grandparents in a financially struggling household. His father recently started working as a caretaker and earns only around BDT 6,000 per month, while his grandfather's small tea stall income is irregular due to age-related illness, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of surgery and hospital care. Despite being a cheerful and innocent child, Shafin suffered a serious road traffic accident that caused a severe injury to his left great toe, leaving him in pain and unable to move the toe normally. His parents and grandparents are deeply worried as the wound has failed to heal properly and now requires urgent surgery to prevent further complications. Without timely treatment, the injury may lead to severe infection, gangrene, permanent deformity, loss of toe function, and even life-threatening septicemia if the infection spreads through the bloodstream. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach program conducted by Mr. Anowar Hossen Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy.

Medical history

Mohammad Shafin was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center on 21 May 2026 with a severe post-traumatic soft tissue defect of his left great toe following a road traffic accident. On 22 May 2026, he successfully underwent wound excision and coverage of the defect with a Split Thickness Skin Graft (STSG), which helped protect the wound, promote healing, and preserve the function of his toe. After five days of postoperative care, wound monitoring, and medication, his condition improved significantly, and he was discharged on 26 May 2026 in stable condition. Shafin’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, volunteers Mr. Anowar Hossen Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy, and the dedicated medical team of Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center for their timely support, compassionate care, and commitment to helping their child recover. Their generosity and kindness have given Shafin the opportunity to heal and continue growing toward a healthier future.

Outcome

According to the treating doctors, wound excision and coverage with a Split Thickness Skin Graft (STSG) is essential to promote proper healing of Shaifan’s injured toe, prevent infection, and preserve normal foot function. The surgery will help close the wound, restore healthy tissue coverage, reduce pain, and improve his ability to stand and walk normally as he grows. Because Shaifan is a very young child, untreated wounds can rapidly become infected and spread to deeper tissues, bones, or the bloodstream. If left untreated, he may develop severe infection (sepsis), permanent deformity, chronic pain, difficulty walking, and long-term disability. In severe cases, a spreading infection can become life-threatening and may require more extensive surgery, making timely treatment critical for both his recovery and overall well-being.
