Basira is a 16-year-old girl, the eldest in her family. She enjoys reading and spending time with her friends. Recently, she's been having pain in her lower belly and discomfort when urinating. After a check-up and some tests, the doctors found out that Basira has three health issues: Nephritis (a kidney problem), Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD), and Malaria. Now, she's waiting to receive medical treatment.

Basira was diagnosed with Nephritis, Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD), and Malaria at Nakowa Hospital. With support from Helpster Charity, she received comprehensive treatment including antimalarial medication, antibiotics, and drugs to manage inflammation and stomach ulcers. Her condition improved with regular monitoring and supportive care. After completing her treatment, Basira made a steady recovery and was discharged with follow-up instructions to support her long-term health.

Treating peptic ulcer disease generally involves a combination of medications to reduce stomach acid and, if applicable, eradicate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. An untreated ulcer can burn through the wall of the stomach or small intestine, causing a serious, life-threatening infection in the abdominal cavity (peritonitis). Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
