Nusrat Jahan is a bright and determined 12-year-old girl who loves reading books and dreams of completing her education despite her family's financial struggles. She lives with her parents and younger brother, and her father is a poor farmer whose limited income is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of her treatment. According to the treating doctor, incision and drainage of the peritonsillar abscess with tonsillectomy is the recommended treatment to remove the collection of pus, eliminate the source of infection, and prevent future episodes. The surgery is expected to relieve her throat pain, restore her ability to swallow and eat normally, reduce the risk of recurrent infections, and allow her to return to school and her daily activities. However, if left untreated, the infection may spread to the deep tissues of the neck or bloodstream, causing severe infection, blockage of the airway, difficulty breathing, and other potentially life-threatening complications.
