Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Sylhet Gastroliver Hospital

House No -35, Block-A, Main Road, Shahjalal Uposhahar, Sylhet 3100

Background

Abdullah All Raiyan is a kind, polite, and determined 8-year-old boy who loves going to school and dreams of building a better future through education. He lives with his father and mother in a small family, where his father works as a caretaker and earns only BDT 6,000 per month, making it difficult to afford even basic household expenses, let alone the cost of emergency orthopedic surgery. After suffering a closed fracture of his left distal radius, Abdullah was unable to move his hand because of severe pain and swelling. With no orthopedic surgeon available in Zakiganj, Helpster Volunteers Redwan and Tanjila Shahin Ema arranged his transfer to Sylhet Gastroliver Hospital, where doctors confirmed that urgent surgery was needed. Without timely treatment, the broken bone could heal improperly, causing permanent deformity, loss of hand function, chronic pain, and lifelong disability

Medical history

Abdullah Al-Raiyan was admitted to Sylhet Gastro Liver Hospital on 12 May 2026 after breaking his left wrist, which caused severe pain, swelling, and difficulty moving his hand. He underwent surgery to repair the broken bone and received medicines, pain relief, and supportive care while staying in the hospital. His condition gradually improved, and he was discharged on 14 May 2026 with medicines and instructions for follow-up care. At the time of discharge, the patient's family expressed their sincere gratitude to Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman and the medical team at Sylhet Gastro Liver Hospital for their dedicated care and successful treatment.

Outcome

According to the treating doctor, K-wire fixation surgery, proper immobilization with a cast, regular follow-up, medications, and keeping the operated arm elevated and protected are essential for Abdullah's fractured wrist to heal correctly. After the bone has healed, he will require another planned surgery to remove the K-wire (screw/pin). With timely treatment and proper rehabilitation, the bone is expected to heal in the correct position, allowing him to regain normal strength and movement of his hand and return to school and his daily activities. However, if left untreated or if follow-up care is not completed, the fracture may heal improperly, leading to permanent deformity, chronic pain, stiffness, reduced hand function, infection, and lifelong disability
