Happiness Ejike is a cheerful, easygoing 27-year-old who loves cooking and singing. She lives with her husband in a one-room apartment in New Nyanya, where he works with a private security company earning 35,000 naira a month. Having completed only secondary school, Happiness holds on to a big dream of becoming a successful businesswoman. When her labour came, it dragged on painfully, and she was rushed to the emergency ward with severe lower abdominal pain. A scan revealed the baby was lying in a transverse position, making normal delivery impossible. She was taken straight to theatre for an emergency Caesarean section, and to God's glory, a bouncing baby boy was safely delivered. Mother and baby have since been discharged and are doing well.

Progressed labor with persistent transverse lie makes vaginal delivery impossible. Without the Caesarean section, prolonged obstructed labour would lead to uterine rupture, severe hemorrhage, sepsis, and likely death for Happiness, while the baby would face cord prolapse, oxygen deprivation, and almost certain stillbirth. The emergency surgery saved both their lives. Prognosis is however good with prompt and immediate Caesarean Section to deliver the baby.
