Araf Khan is a cheerful and intelligent 7-year-old boy who studies in Class 1 and dreams of continuing his education despite growing up in the crowded Geneva Camp in Dhaka. His father, Mohammad Miraj, works as a rickshaw puller and earns only about BDT 8,500 per month, while his mother, Muskan Khatun, is a housewife, making it difficult for the family to meet daily expenses and afford emergency medical care. When Araf developed severe pain, swelling of the foreskin, and increasing difficulty passing urine, his condition rapidly became critical, causing intense discomfort and putting him at risk of complete urinary blockage. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized in Geneva Camp, which gave them hope when they had no way to pay for treatment. Without urgent surgery, Araf could have developed severe infection, permanent damage to the affected tissue, complete urinary retention, and other life-threatening complications, making immediate medical intervention essential to protect his health and future.

According to Dr. Nasim Tanver, Araf required emergency circumcision to treat severe phimosis and acute urinary retention. This vital surgery will dramatically improve his quality of life by permanently removing his severe penile pain and allowing him to pass urine normally and comfortably again. With successful treatment, he is expected to make a full recovery at home following his prescribed medication and wound care routine. If he had been left untreated, this condition could have progressed to a life-threatening emergency due to complete bladder blockage, severe localized infection, or permanent tissue damage.
