Saba Akter is a gentle and hardworking 18-year-old housewife who dreams of building a happy and healthy future with her husband, Md. Amin Rashed (25). Her husband earns only about BDT 9,000 per month as a garment factory worker and must support Saba as well as his elderly parents in their small overcrowded room in Geneva Market Camp, leaving the family unable to afford expensive surgery and medical expenses. For nearly two years, Saba's neck swelling continued to grow, and recently she began suffering from difficulty swallowing and neck pain due to a right nodular goitre, making her condition increasingly concerning. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer ABM Alamgir, who guided them to seek help when they had exhausted all other options. Without timely treatment, the thyroid swelling could continue to enlarge, causing severe difficulty swallowing and breathing, increasing pain and discomfort, and potentially leading to serious health complications

Saba Akter was admitted to the hospital on 28 June 2026 after being diagnosed with a right nodular goitre that had been causing neck swelling, pain, and difficulty swallowing. Following the necessary examinations, she successfully underwent a right hemithyroidectomy on 29 June 2026, and her recovery was closely monitored until she was discharged on 3 July 2026 in stable condition with medicines and follow-up advice. The treatment has relieved her symptoms and given her hope for a healthy and normal future. Saba and her family sincerely express their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers, and the hospital team for their generous financial support, compassionate care, and continuous encouragement throughout her treatment. Their kindness has brought immense relief to the family during a very difficult time and has given Saba a new chance at a healthier life.

Right hemithyroidectomy is expected to remove Saba Akter’s thyroid swelling, relieve her difficulty in swallowing and neck discomfort, and improve her quality of life. The removed tissue will be examined to determine the exact nature of the thyroid lump and guide further treatment if any suspicious or cancerous changes are found. With timely surgery and appropriate follow-up, she is expected to recover well and return to normal daily activities. If left untreated, the swelling may continue to grow and cause increasing difficulty in swallowing or breathing, persistent discomfort, and pressure on nearby neck structures.
