Following a physical examination and laboratory tests, she was diagnosed with enteric fever and received appropriate treatment. A follow-up phone call five days later confirmed that she had fully recovered.
Outcome
Typhoid fever is typically treated with antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin or ceftriaxone. If left untreated, typhoid fever can lead to severe complications, including the spread of the infection to other organs and tissues, intestinal perforation, and in rare cases, life-threatening conditions such as sepsis or encephalitis. Timely treatment is crucial to prevent these serious outcomes.
