Mst. Surmi Khatun is a 16-year-old first-time mother who hopes for a safe delivery and a healthy beginning for her unborn child despite her family’s difficult circumstances. Her husband is the family’s only earning member and works as a day laborer, but his irregular income is barely enough for their basic needs, leaving them unable to afford the necessary maternity and delivery care. After learning about Helpster Charity, the family sought assistance through Bablu Abdullah, who visited their home and verified their financial hardship. At 35 weeks of pregnancy, Surmi’s baby is in a breech position, which increases the risk of complications during labor and requires careful medical supervision and delivery planning. Without appropriate care, both mother and baby may face serious complications, including obstructed labor, birth injury, fetal distress, oxygen deprivation, severe maternal bleeding, and potentially life-threatening outcomes.

Mst. Surmi Khatun was admitted to the hospital on July 20, 2026, with a diagnosis of primigravida at 38 weeks of gestation with a breech presentation. On July 21, 2026, she successfully underwent a Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) and delivered a healthy baby boy. The surgery was completed without major complications, and both the mother and the newborn remained in stable condition throughout their hospital stay. Following satisfactory postoperative recovery and routine neonatal care, both mother and baby were discharged in good health on July 26, 2026. At the time of discharge, Surmi's husband and mother arrived at the hospital to accompany the mother and newborn home. The family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated medical care, compassionate support, and assistance throughout the treatment process. Surmi's husband conveyed special appreciation to Helpster for providing essential financial assistance, which enabled the family to access timely surgical care and ensured the safe delivery of their baby.

The attending doctor has advised LUCS (Lower Uterine Cesarean Section) as the safest mode of delivery, given that the fetus is in breech presentation at 35+ weeks of gestation. In such cases, cesarean delivery significantly reduces the risks associated with vaginal breech birth, particularly for a primigravida patient. Timely LUCS can help ensure the safe delivery of the baby, minimizing the chances of birth trauma, oxygen deprivation (birth asphyxia), and fetal distress. If left unmanaged and labor progresses naturally, there is a high risk of serious complications. The baby may suffer from trauma, asphyxia, or even death, while the mother may face life-threatening conditions such as severe hemorrhage, uterine rupture, or infection.
