Lamia Akter is a bright and cheerful 12-year-old girl who dreams of continuing her education and supporting her family in the future. She lives with her parents, two younger siblings, and elderly grandparents, while her father, Helal, struggles to support all seven family members by earning only BDT 9,000–10,000 per month as a day laborer. After developing persistent high fever, severe cough, runny nose, and weakness, she was diagnosed with typhoid fever and urgently admitted to the hospital, but the family cannot afford the cost of treatment because their limited income is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities. Without timely treatment, typhoid can lead to life-threatening complications such as severe intestinal infection, internal bleeding, or organ failure, putting Lamia's life and future at serious risk. Helpster Charity's support gives this financially struggling family hope by ensuring Lamia receives the lifesaving treatment she urgently needs before her condition becomes irreversible.

Doctors have advised treatment with parenteral antibiotics along with supportive therapy to effectively control Lamia’s typhoid infection. With timely and complete treatment, her fever will gradually subside, her strength will return, and she will be able to resume her studies and daily activities without long-term effects. Proper medical care will also prevent the infection from spreading and protect her vital organs. However, if left untreated, typhoid can lead to severe complications such as intestinal perforation, internal bleeding, bloodstream infection, and even become life-threatening. Early intervention is therefore essential to ensure her full recovery and safeguard her future health.
