Riban A., 6

Riban Ahmed is a 6-year-old Class One student from a financially disadvantaged family of five, where his father, Fokhrul Islam, is the sole earning member and works as a day laborer earning approximately BDT 5,000 (about USD 41) per month. His limited income is barely enough to support his wife, Salina Begum, and their three children, including Riban’s elder brother Jihan and younger sister Tasnim, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of his hospitalization, investigations, and medicines. Riban is a young and active boy who enjoys going to school, but his prolonged fever, vomiting, diarrhea, breathing difficulty, and rash have left him weak and unable to continue his normal activities. He was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis with pneumonia and measles, and without timely treatment, dehydration and respiratory complications could worsen and become serious. The family learned about Helpster Charity through their neighbour, giving them hope of receiving the medical support Riban urgently needs.

Riban Ahmed, was admitted to Seba Hospital on 9 August 2026 with fever, loose motion, vomiting, cold, cough, and respiratory distress. He also developed a generalized rash before admission and was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis with pneumonia and measles. He was hospitalized and received conservative and supportive treatment under the supervision of the medical team, with close monitoring of his condition. His health gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged on 16 August 2026 with medical advice. The family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Volunteer Redwan Hussen Shiplu and the Seba Hospital team for their support and care.

Hospitalization with isolation, parenteral hydration, antibiotics, and supportive therapy is expected to control the infection, correct dehydration, improve the child’s general condition, and support recovery from gastroenteritis and pneumonia while reducing the risk of further complications. With timely treatment and close monitoring, Riban is expected to stabilize and gradually return to normal activities and schooling. If left untreated, persistent diarrhea and vomiting may cause severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, while pneumonia and measles may worsen, leading to serious respiratory complications, systemic infection, or other potentially life-threatening conditions.
