Transform Lives
Nigeria has a population of about 200 million people, making it the most populous African country. WHO statistics show that over 40 percent of that population lack access to vital healthcare, and 70 percent live below the poverty line.

Just like many other African nations, Nigeria grapples with achieving universal health coverage, making the underprivileged suffer because they can't afford the medicare they need.

    Helpster's Impact in Nigeria
Helpster steps in, deploying tech-driven solutions and strategic engagements to address the healthcare inequalities that Nigerians are facing, especially in remote communities in Northern Nigeria where this challenge is most prevalent.
Our mission is to bridge the healthcare gap in Nigeria, connecting donors to those in desperate need of medicare but can't afford it. Through our platform, over 500 children and pregnant women have been admitted. Hernia, acute appendicitis, urinary tract infection, malaria, typhoid, hydrocele, gastroenteritis and kidney diseases are some of the common conditions we've funded
Our medical aid for Nigeria is achieved through two core programmes:
    Healthcare Funding:
We work with volunteers, hospitals and other partners to identify cases, which are assessed against a set of criteria, such as poverty scoring, urgency, cost, etc. Qualified cases are uploaded on the Helpster website and app for funding. Our admission rate is 62.5 percent, which implies that we decline some cases that don’t meet the admission requirements.

Donations go directly to the hospitals for the approved cases, with 5-7 percent catering to transaction and processing fees. We accept cases below 1500 USD but sometimes make an exception for cases up to 3000 USD. All case documents are available online and donors can track the impact of their contributions. Transparency is priority for us, and our verification process is thorough enough to ensure every dollar helps to provide urgent medical aid.

    Regular Medical Outreaches
To further our medical aid in Nigeria, Helpster organises free medical outreaches regularly in remote regions where healthcare access is almost nonexistent. We take medicare to these rural communities, offering them screening, diagnosis, life-saving treatment and advice on healthy living. In Nigeria, we've conducted seven outreaches and impacted over 4000 people. The last outreach was in September 2024, in Ajegunle, Lagos, where we treated over 150 people.
