What is charity?

A charity foundation is a nonprofit established to mitigate a social issue. They're organisations with a social mission, raising funds to combat prevailing social issues. Helpster is an example, as we're solving the problem of limited healthcare for the underprivileged.

Charity foundations focus on an issue. It could be environmental pollution, poverty, hunger, limited medicare access, etc. They develop programmes to reduce these systemic issues, fostering sustainable impact in their communities.
Beyond charitable giving, these foundations also do advocacy to draw attention to issues and cause the desired change.

How to Set up a Charity Event

Charity events are a great way to contribute to causes. You can organise a charity event to create awareness and raise funds for a cause. It could be a charity auction, a fun run, a benefit concert or a food drive. Here's how to set up a charity event:

  1. Choose a Cause: This is obviously the first step- you have to choose a cause that aligns with your values and resonates with your community. Decide what issue to address and build a cause for it.
  2. Planning: Decide on the venue, date, time and other necessary logistics. What items do you need to pull it off?
  3. Set a Fundraising Goal: State clearly the amount you aim to raise with the charity event, and set a budget to guide your spending.
  4. Effective Promotion: To attract attendees and donors, you need to effectively promote the event via online and offline channels. Leverage your personal network to spread the word.
  5. Donor and Sponsor Engagement: You need to reach out to local organisations and individuals for support. State clearly what they'll get in return- CSR recognition, publicity, etc.
  6. Appreciation: Thank everyone that supported you- whether by attending, volunteering, sponsoring or donating.
